The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 narratives that are full of consummate wisdom. But warnings do not avail them. 5 turn thou away from them. On the Day when the Summoning Voice will summon [man] unto something that the mind cannot conceive, 6 Their eyes humbled, they will emerge from the graves as if they were locusts spreading, 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 So he prayed to his Lord: "I am helpless, deliver me." 10 We opened the Gates of Heaven with torrential water 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs. So the waters (of the heaven and the earth) met for a matter predestined. 12 And We carried him on a [construction of] planks and nails, 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
