The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
