Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 raised couches, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
