The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and the day in splendour 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But as for him who hoardeth and deemeth himself independent, 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Truly! Ours it is (to give) guidance, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And have in his mind no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 He verily will be content. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
