The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ CLOSER DRAWS unto men their reckoning: and yet they remain stubbornly heedless [of its approach]. 1 Comes not unto them an admonition (a chapter of the Quran) from their Lord as a recent revelation but they listen to it while they play, 2 In sport being their hearts. And those who do wrong keep secret their private discourse this is but a human being like unto yourselves; will ye then betake yourselves to magic while ye know? 3 The Lord said, "Tell them (Muhammad), 'My Lord knows all that is said in the heavens and the earth. He is All-hearing and All-knowing ". 4 Nay, but they say: 'A hotchpotch of nightmares! Nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet! Now therefore let him bring us a sign, even as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers.' 5 Not one habitation that We destroyed before them had believed. So how can they believe? 6 And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- 7 And We did not make them bodies not eating the food, and they were not to abide (forever). 8 Then We made Our promise good to them, so We delivered them and those whom We pleased, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
