The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Then where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills - the Lord of the Creation. 29
