The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they do not believe 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
