The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And have kept a very bright lamp in it. 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
