He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
