The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
