Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 hearing there no babble; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
