This, (Quran), is certainly the revelation from the Lord of the Universe. 192 The Trusted Spirit hath brought it down. 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 in clear Arabic speech. 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 Had We revealed it to a man of obscure tongue 198 who would have read it to them, they (pagans) would not have believed in it. 199 Thus have We caused it (the denial of the Quran) to enter the hearts of the Mujrimun (criminals, polytheists, sinners, etc.). 200 They will not believe in it till they behold the painful doom, 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are not aware, 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 Would they (now) hasten on Our doom? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 And then what they were promised comes upon them, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 As a reminder; and never have We been unjust. 209 The satans have not revealed the Quran; 210 They are not worthy of it, nor have they power. 211 Most surely they are far removed from the hearing of it. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 and warn your nearest kinsmen; 214 And lower thy wing (in kindness) unto those believers who follow thee. 215 Then if they disobey you, say: "I am innocent of what you do." 216 And put your trust in Him Who is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate, 217 Who seeth thee standing forth (in prayer), 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 The satans try to listen to the heavens but many of them are liars. 223 And the astray follow the poets. 224 Do you not see that in every valley they roam 225 and they say what they do not do? 226 Save those who believed and worked righteous works and remembered Allah much, and vindicated themselves after they had been wronged. And anon those who do wrong shall come to know with what a translating they shall be translated. 227
