WHAT, THEN, is amiss with such as are bent on denying the truth, that they run about confusedly to and fro before thee, 36 [coming upon thee] from the right and from the left, in crowds? 37 Does every one of them wish to enter the garden of tranquility? 38 Certainly not! They know quite well out of what We created them. 39 I swear by the Lord of the easts and the wests, that, verily We are Able. 40 to replace them by others who would be better than they; and We shall certainly not be overpowered. 41 Therefore leave them alone to go on with the false discourses and to sport until they come face to face with that day of theirs with which they are threatened; 42 The day on which they shall come forth from their graves in haste, as if they were hastening on to a goal, 43 Downcast shall be their looks; abjectness shall overspread them. Such is the Day which they are promised. 44
