The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 As for him who gives and is godfearing 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And rejects the best, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 And Al-Muttaqun (the pious and righteous - see V. 2:2) will be far removed from it (Hell). 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He verily will be content. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
