Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them, and we made every living thing of water? Will they not then believe? 30 We set firm mountains upon the earth lest it should sway under them, and We placed therein passages for paths so that they might find their way. 31 And We have made the heaven a roof, safe, and from the signs thereof they are averters. 32 It is He who created the night and the day, the sun and the moon, each swimming in a sky. 33 We appointed immortality for no mortal before thee. What! if thou diest, can they be immortal! 34 Every soul shall taste of death; and We try you with evil and good for a testing, then unto Us you shall be returned. 35 When those who deny the truth see you, they laugh at you, saying, "Is this the one who talks of your deities?" Yet it is they who deny all mention of the Gracious One. 36 Man was created of haste, surely I shall show you My signs, so ask Me not to hasten. 37 They ask, "When will this promise be fulfilled, if what you say be true?" 38 Had those who disbelieve but known (of the time) when they shall not be able to ward off the fire from their faces nor from their backs, nor shall they be helped. 39 It will come upon them unawares confounding them, and they will not be able to keep it back, nor will they be given respite. 40 And assuredly mocked were the apostles before thee, then there surrounded those of them who scoffed that whereat they had been mocking! 41
