We indeed created man; and We know what his soul whispers within him, and We are nearer to him than the jugular vein. 16 When the two angels meet together, sitting one on the right, and one on the left, 17 He utters not a word but there is by him a watcher at hand. 18 And the stupor of death will come in truth: "This is what you have been avoiding!" 19 And the Trumpet was blown; “This is the Day of the promised punishment.” 20 And every soul shall come, and with it a driver and a witness. 21 [and will be told:] "Indeed, unmindful hast thou been of this [Day of Judgment]; but now We have lifted from thee thy veil, and sharp is thy sight today!" 22 And his companion will say: this is that which with me is ready. 23 (The sentence will be:) "Throw, throw into Hell every contumacious Rejecter (of Allah)!- 24 every hinderer of the good, transgressor, disquieter, 25 who has set up with Allah another god. Indeed, you two, cast him into the terrible punishment' 26 ۞ Man's other self' will say: "O our Sustainer! It was not I that led his conscious mind into evil [nay,] but it had gone far astray [of its own accord]! 27 He saith: Contend not in My presence, when I had already proffered unto you the warning. 28 The sentence that cometh from Me cannot be changed, and I am in no wise a tyrant unto the slaves. 29
