The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
The Hour of Doom is drawing near and the moon is rent asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 Extensive wisdom - but warning does not avail [them]. 5 Wherefore withdrew thou from them. The Day whereon the summoner will summon mankind unto a thing unpleasant. 6 with downcast eyes they shall come out of their graves, as if they were locusts milling about 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The folk of Noah denied before them, yea, they denied Our slave and said: A madman; and he was repulsed. 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 And We caused the earth to gush forth with springs, so the waters met (and rose) to the extent decreed. 12 And We bore him upon a well-planked vessel well-caulked 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign – so is there one who would ponder? 15 So how did My punishment turn out, and My threats? 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Verily We! We sent against them a raging wind on a day of calamity continuous. 19 Extracting the people as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted. 20 How then were My punishment and My warnings! 21 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 22
