In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 keep vigil the night, except a little 2 (a half of it, or diminish a little, 3 Or add (a little) thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure, 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 And leave Me (alone to deal with) those in possession of the good things of life, who (yet) deny the Truth; and bear with them for a little while. 11 We have fetters (for them) and a blazing fire, 12 And a food that chokes, and a painful torment. 13 One Day the earth and the mountains will be in violent commotion. And the mountains will be as a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 How, then, if you refuse to acknowledge the truth, will you protect yourselves on that Day which shall turn the hair of children grey, 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
