The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

WOE TO EVERY slanderer, back-biter, 1 who amasses wealth and counts it over and again. 2 thinking that his wealth will make him live forever! 3 On the contrary! He shall be flung to the Crusher. 4 What shall let you know what the Crusher is? 5 (It is) the kindled Fire of Allah, 6 roaring over the hearts 7 It will engulf them. 8 In extended columns. 9

God Almighty has spoken the truth.
