The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Indeed, We have guided him to the path, he is either grateful or ungrateful. 3 Lo! We have prepared for disbelievers manacles and carcans and a raging fire. 4 Verily the pious shall drink of a cup whereof the admixture is like unto camphor. 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And they give food, inspite of their love for it (or for the love of Him), to Miskin (poor), the orphan, and the captive, 8 (saying): 'We feed you only desirous of the Face of Allah; we seek of you neither recompense nor thanks, 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 So God will protect them from the evil of that day, and grant them happiness and joy, 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 They will recline therein on couches and they will find neither excessive heat nor cold. 13 And close down upon them (shall be) its shadows, and its fruits shall be made near (to them), being easy to reach. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there a cup (of wine) mixed with Zanjabil (ginger, etc.), 17 from a fountain called Salsabila. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall surround them, waiting upon them; when you see them, you would think they are scattered pearls. 19 When you see them, you see bliss, and a great Kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 Behold, this is your recompense and your endeavour has been appreciated. 22
