The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 or enjoins true piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
