99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Ra. These are the verses of the Book, and a Qur'an luminous. 1 Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know! 3 Not one habitation have We destroyed but at the time determined for it. 4 No group may advance its appointed promise nor postpone it. 5 (The unbelievers have said), "You to whom the Quran has been revealed are insane. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels upon us, if you are truthful?" 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 It is We who have sent down the Reminder and We will, most surely, safeguard it. 9 We sent Messengers to the ancient people who lived before you. 10 But never once an apostle came to them at whom they did not scoff. 11 Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals. 12 They do not believe in it even though the practice of the ancients has already gone. 13 If We opened a gate in the heaven and they kept ascending through it, 14 still they would say: 'Our eyes were dazzled; truly, we must have been a bewitched people' 15

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
