Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, who cried lies to the encounter of the world to come, and to whom We had given ease in the present' life, 'This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 What! does he threaten you that when you are dead and become dust and bones that you shall then be brought forth? 35 ۞ Such a promise will never come true. 36 "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 He said: my Lord! vindicate for they belie me. 39 He said: In a little while they will most certainly be repenting. 40 So the (Awful) Cry overtook them rightfully, and We made them like as wreckage (that a torrent hurleth). A far removal for wrongdoing folk! 41 After them We produced other generations 42 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after another; whenever there came to a people their apostle, they called him a liar, so We made some of them follow others and We made them stories; so away with a people who do not believe! 44 AND THEN We sent forth Moses and his brother Aaron with Our messages and a manifest authority [from Us] 45 unto Pharaoh and his great ones; but these behaved with arrogance, for they were people wont to glorify [only] themselves. 46 'What' they said, 'are we to believe in two mortals like us, whose nation are our worshipers' 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And We verily gave Moses the Scripture, that haply they might go aright. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
