The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 By the House Frequented. 4 by the high ceiling (heaven), 5 Consider the surf-swollen sea! 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The day on which they shall be driven away to the fire of hell with violence. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
