Noah (Nooh)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 Worship Allah, fear Him, and obey me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 "I preached to them aloud, in public. 8 Then I conveyed the message to them, again, both in public and in private, 9 And I said: ask forgiveness of your Lord; verily He is ever Most Forgiving. 10 He will shower upon you torrents from heaven, 11 ‘And will aid you with wealth and sons, and will create gardens for you and cause rivers to flow for you.’ 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow as a growth from the earth, 17 Then He returns you to it, then will He bring you forth a (new) bringing forth: 18 Allah has made the earth a wide expanse for you 19 ‘So that you may tread the wide roads in it.’” 20
