The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Surely yes, they will soon come to know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
