The people of Lut belied the sent ones. 160 When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear God? 161 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 162 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the lord of the Worlds. 164 What! do you come to the males from among the creatures 165 "And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your wives? Nay, you are a trespassing people!" 166 They said, "If you do not desist, Lot, you will surely be banished." 167 He said: verily I am of those who abhor your work. 168 (And prayed:) "O Lord, save me and my family from what they do." 169 So We saved him and his household, every one, 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 then We destroyed the others. 172 And We rained down upon them a rain, and evil was the rain on those warned. 173 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 174 And lo! thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 175
