The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 purify your garments; 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, may he be cursed how he plotted; 20 Then looked he, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then turned he away in pride 23 Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 Soon I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
