Nay, and by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Each one is a hostage to one's deeds, 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 From the guilty. 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 "And we used to talk falsehood (all that which Allah hated) with vain talkers. 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 But none will remember, unless Allah wills, He is the Owner of fear, the Owner of forgiveness. 56
