Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection, 1 And I swear by the self-reproaching soul. 2 Deemest man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks: When is the day of resurrection? 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 the moon eclipsed. 8 And the sun and moon are joined together,- 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 In fact, man himself is keeping an eye on his state of affairs! 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not your tongue concerning (the Quran, O Muhammad SAW) to make haste therewith. 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 Yet you love this hasty world 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 On that day, some faces will shine with freshness. 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 And on that day some faces will be ghastly. 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Nay; when a man's soul reaches up to the throat, 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And agony is heaped on agony; 29 at that time towards thy Sustainer does he feel impelled to turn! 30
