The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily We created man from a sperm yoked (to the ovum) to bring out his real substance, then gave him hearing and sight. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, 5 From a fountain whence the bondmen of Allah will drink, causing it to gush abundantly. 6 They fulfil their pledges, and fear a day the evil of which is widespread. 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 We are afraid of our Lord and the bitterly distressful day". 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 Glass made from silver, which the servers have filled up to the measure. 16 And they will be given to drink a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of ginger 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) boys of everlasting youth. If you see them, you would think them scattered pearls. 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 [And they will be told:] "Verily, all this is your reward since Your endeavour [in life] has met [God's] goodly acceptance!" 22
