And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: 'Have you considered what you worship, 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 They are an enemy to me, except the Lord of all Being 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 And who, I hope, will condone my faults on the Day of Judgement. 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 And Hell is brought near to the perverse' 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
