He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe of God 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 and covered by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
