Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
