The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 for what crime she was slain, 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 (Then) every person will know what he has brought (of good and evil). 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed one; then trustworthy. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
