And recount to them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said unto his father and his people: what worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 "The One Who created me, so He will guide me." 78 It is He who gives me food and drink 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father, verily he is of the erring; 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 except him who comes before Allah with a pure heart; 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 "When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation." 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 and now we have none to intercede on our behalf, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 Surely, Your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
