The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And dense gardens. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
