And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 You and your ancient sires. 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 and is the One who gives me to eat and to drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 and so too the hosts of Iblis, all of them. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
