The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the twilight; 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
