Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets set forth 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
