When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 [Lot] said: "[Take instead] these daughters of mine, if you must do [whatever you intend to do]!" 71 Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
