Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 Half of it, or a little less than that, 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 Lo! with Us are heavy fetters and a raging fire, 12 choking food and a painful punishment. 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 Lo! We have sent unto you a messenger as witness against you, even as We sent unto Pharaoh a messenger. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 So how will you save yourselves, if you disbelieve, on a day that will turn children old? 17 Whereby heaven shall be split, and its promise shall be performed. 18 Verily this is an Admonition: therefore, whoso will, let him take a (straight) path to his Lord! 19
