Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 well arranged goblets, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
