The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Leave them alone; let them eat and enjoy themselves the while the hope [of vain delights] beguiles them: for in time they will come to know [the truth]. 3 Whenever We destroyed a town, a definite term had previously been decreed for it. 4 and no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 5 They say: 'Thou, upon whom the Remembrance is sent down, thou art assuredly possessed! 6 "Why bringest thou not angels to us if it be that thou hast the Truth?" 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 Verily We! it is We who have revealed the admonition, and verily We are the guardians thereof. 9 We have sent forth before you Messengers among the factions of the ancients. 10 And not an apostle came unto them but at him they were wont to mock. 11 Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals. 12 They will not believe in it, though they have before them the example of former peoples, 13 And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend, 14 They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic." 15
