The tribe of Thamud also rejected the messengers. 141 Behold, their brother Salih said to them: "Will you not fear (Allah)? 142 Lo! I am a faithful messenger unto you, 143 So fear Allah, and obey me. 144 I do not ask any recompense of you for this. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 145 Shall ye be left secure in that which is here before us. 146 “In gardens and water springs?” 147 and fields, and [these] palm-trees with slender spathes? 148 You hew dwellings in mountains and exult in that. 149 So be mindful of God and listen to me. 150 And do not obey the order of the transgressors, 151 “Those who spread turmoil in the earth, and do no reform.” 152 They said: You are only of the deluded ones; 153 You are but a human like ourselves. Produce for us a sign, if you are of the truthful' 154 He said: "Here is a she-camel: she has a right of watering, and ye have a right of watering, (severally) on a day appointed. 155 and do not touch her with malice so that there seize you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 156 Yet they hamstrung her, and then they became regretful: 157 so the punishment came down upon them. Surely in that there is a sign, but most of them would not believe. 158 Your Lord is Majestic and All-merciful. 159
