The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and a few from later times. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 on raised couches. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
