The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Did the news of Moosa reach you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
