The Romans (Al-Room)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim 1 The Romans have been defeated 2 In a nearer land; and they, after the overcoming of them, shall soon overcome. 3 Within a few years. Allah's is the command before and after; and on that day the believers shall rejoice, 4 In the help of God. He helps whom He will; He is all-mighty, ever-merciful. 5 This is the promise of God. God does not ignore His promise, but many people do not know. 6 They know but the outer (things) in the life of this world: but of the End of things they are heedless. 7 Do they not contemplate within themselves? Allah has not created the heavens and the earth and what is between them except in truth and for a specified term. And indeed, many of the people, in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord, are disbelievers. 8 Have they not travelled in the earth and seen how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than these in prowess, and dug up the earth, and built on it in greater abundance than these have built on it, and there came to them their apostles with clear arguments; so it was not beseeming for Allah that He should deal with them unjustly, but they dealt unjustly with their own souls. 9 Then evil was the consequence to those who dealt in evil, because they denied the revelations of Allah and made a mock of them. 10
