The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the mount 1 and the Book inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 And by the Bait-ul-Ma'mur (the house over the heavens parable to the Ka'bah at Makkah, continuously visited by the angels); 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
