The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed; but upon that day they shall be veiled from their Lord, 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 and be told: "This is the [very thing] to which you were wont to give the lie!" 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 (It is) a marked Book, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances. 30 And when they returned to their household they returned jesting. 31 and when they saw them they said, 'Lo, these men are astray!' 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
